Girl who tested positive for coronavirus in Rivers state is said to have recovered and now tests negative according to a Facebook post by an aide to Governor Wike.

Marshal Ibuzor, media aide to governor Nyesom Wike, took to his Facebook page to share the good news on Saturday.

Rivers State’s Covid-19 Index patient is said to be doing very well as her present follow up test has returned negative.

Even with that her discharge protocol demands that she remains under observation until more tests that would be taken over time come out negative.” his post read.

In an interview with a Port harcourt radio station, the index patient had narrated how she tested positive on her return from an event in Paris.

The government commenced a partial lockdown of the city following her case and has maintained restrictions on businesses and movements within the state since then.

Mr Ibuzor also said contact persons with the index case tested so far have returned negative results for coronavirus.

He added that her protocol demands that the patient remains under observation until more tests are confirmed negative before she can be discharged.

Nigeria currently records 210 confirmed cases, 25 recovered patients and 4 deaths.

The world now records a total of 1,130,575 confirmed cases, 234,079 recovered patients and 60,124 deaths.
