Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a press conference Wednesday morning faulted the shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll plaza while instructing a 5-man fact finding committee to commence investigation into the unfortunate event last night with immediate effect.

The governor speaking on the situation for clarity noted that:

He further tasked the investigation to ensure the ordered and adopted rules of engagement deployed by the officers of the Nigerian Army that were deployed to Lekki Toll Gate last night.

Reports say that the military were said to have opened fire on the protesters at the toll plaza on Tuesday evening. The governor, who had earlier declared a 24-hour curfew following widespread violence had received severe criticisms on the social media.

In a tweet early hours of this morning, The governor showed remorse for the very disturbing incident after making visits to hospitals in company of the state’s commissioner of health to see victims who are undergoing treatment.

The governor who expressed how sad the turnout of events have become also explained how it has been difficult for them to persuade the #EndSARS protesters to leave the toll gate in all their engagements with the since Tuesday 13th October, 2020.

Lagos State Government suspends all state’s activities

In another development, the Lagos State Government has announced the suspension of all state’s activities for the next three days with exception of those who are involved in the governance of security in the state and those who are involved in currently managing the situation.

This is in line with the sensitivity of the mood of the nation as well as due to th extension of the curfew which was earlies slated for 24 hours.

Also, the governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo Olu has further directed the lowering of the flags in all government establishments for 3-days.

Social media is still full with wide criticisms on the Nigerian government for being responsible for the murder of its citizens.
