Germany – Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed that Nigeria international Victor Boniface is in good health following a car accident in Germany.
The Super Eagles striker was involved in the crash on Sunday, just hours after helping Leverkusen secure a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Boniface, 23, shared now-deleted images and videos of the incident on social media, including a shot of his damaged car. In the post, he expressed gratitude, stating, “God is the greatest” and “God says my time hasn’t come.”
According to Bild, a German tabloid, Boniface was a passenger in a car that collided with a truck on the A3 highway between Bad Camberg and Idstein. The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m., as Boniface was en route to Frankfurt Airport to pick up friends. The car, a Mercedes, reportedly skidded from the middle lane into the truck after the driver lost control due to fatigue, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Leverkusen confirmed that Boniface escaped with only minor injuries to his hand. Both the driver and Boniface were treated at a hospital and have since returned safely to Cologne. In one of the shared photos, Boniface was seen with a bloodied arm.
