The list of retirees includes the Deputy Clerk to the Senate, the Deputy Clerk of the House of Representatives, 11 directors, six deputy directors, one assistant director, and two directors from the National Assembly Service Commission.
Abuja, Nigeria – The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has approved the appointment of Andrew Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate.
His appointment, effective December 11, 2024, was confirmed during the commission’s meeting held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
The announcement, made in a statement by the NASC Director of Information, Emmanuel Anyigor, on Monday, follows the pre-retirement leave of Magaji Tambawal, the outgoing Clerk to the National Assembly, who handed over duties to his deputy, Kamouroudeen Ogundele, on November 1, 2024.
In line with this development, no fewer than 30 top officials of the National Assembly, including Chinedu Akabueze, the Clerk to the Senate, and other senior staff, are set to retire. The list of retirees includes the Deputy Clerk to the Senate, the Deputy Clerk of the House of Representatives, 11 directors, six deputy directors, one assistant director, and two directors from the National Assembly Service Commission.
Major Appointments and Reshuffling
The NASC has not only appointed Nwoba but also made significant changes to the National Assembly’s administrative structure. Nwoba, who previously served as the Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning, will be succeeded by Dr. Obasi D. Ukoha in his former role.
Other appointments include:
- Emmanuel Oda as Deputy Clerk (Administration), Senate.
- Vivien N. Njemanze as Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives.
The commission also approved key redeployments:
- Rawlings Agada moves from Deputy Clerk (Administration), Senate, to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), Senate.
- Florence Kehinde transitions from Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives, to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), House of Representatives.
Additional Appointments
The NASC has further bolstered its leadership with the following appointments:
- Ogundayo Mofoluwake Olufunmilayo as Secretary of the Directorate of Special Duties.
- Alkali Umar Abubakar as Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resource & Staff Development.
- Essien Eyo Essien as Secretary of the Directorate of Zonal Liaison Offices.
