Binance Executive Stands by $150m Bribery Claim Against Nigerian Lawmakers
Binance Executive Reaffirms Bribery Allegations Against Nigerian Lawmakers

LAGOS, NIGERIATigran Gambaryan, a senior official at Binance, has doubled down on his claims of bribery against three Nigerian lawmakers, asserting the veracity of his previous statements on the matter. Gambaryan’s initial allegation, made on Friday via social media platform X, accused Representatives Philip Agbese, Ginger Onwusibe, and Peter Akpanke of soliciting a $150 million bribe to prevent his arrest and prosecution on money laundering charges.

The allegations, which have been vehemently denied by the accused lawmakers and the Nigerian Federal Government, prompted Gambaryan to reiterate his position in a subsequent Saturday post. He maintained that his account was “factual,” based on his personal experiences and discussions with individuals knowledgeable about the events. Furthermore, Gambaryan stated that the information had been shared with both Nigerian and US law enforcement agencies.

“What I shared was factual, based on my personal experiences and conversations with those who have direct knowledge of the events I discussed; information that was shared with both Nigerian and US law enforcement,” he wrote, adding, “So please, allow me to leave this behind and find peace”.

Gambaryan clarified that while his role in the investigation is now over, the responsibility of bringing the matter to a resolution now rests with law enforcement agencies in Nigeria and the United States. He explained that his Friday post aimed to supplement the existing reporting on the situation.

Reflecting on the past year, Gambaryan described the ordeal as emotionally taxing for himself and his family. He cited his prior career as a Special Agent with the US Department of the Treasury, emphasizing his dedication to combating crime. He expressed a desire to move past the ordeal, citing the emotional toll the legal proceedings have taken on his loved ones.

“I don’t want to see my kids cry because I’m not around. I don’t want to see videos of my 75-year-old mother on television in tears. I don’t want to see my wife crying on TV. I want to put this nightmare behind me and move on,” he concluded.
