Keniebi Diton Okoko, billionaire businessman and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa state is dead, sources close to the family have revealed to REPORT AFRIQUE.
Okoko, a well-known philanthropist and CEO of KDI Group – a multi-sector service oriented firm – was said to have died in a Lagos hospital due to complications from a surgery he recently underwent. He was 42 years old.
Okoko was one of the front line aspirants in the last Bayelsa state guber election in 2019. He came third in a contest that had 21 other governorship aspirants.
Controversies arose Wednesday when some online blogs claimed he had resurrected after prayers by Pastor David Ibiyeomi. This was later found to be fabricated stories by fans who could not stand the news of his sudden demise.
Keniebi Okoko was a loving father, a devoted Christian and one of the leading pastors at the popular Salvation Ministries church in Port Harcourt.
He was the son of Emeritus Political Science Professor and Ijaw leader, Professor Kimse Okoko. His father is also the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Uyo and former President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).
Keniebi’s death came as a shock to his fans and well-wishers, who have taken to social media to share their grief.
