As we sail into the final months of the year, it’s time for some honest reflection. Remember those New Year resolutions? You know, the ones we all enthusiastically jotted down, hoping to transform our lives? The question is: did you achieve them, or are they gathering dust somewhere, waiting for another January 1st?
It is fair to conclude, the road to achieving our goals this year has been anything but smooth. The economy alone has thrown its fair share of challenges our way: rising costs of almost everything(Currently, there’s no poor man food nor student budget food; Garri, Noodles or Spaghetti), the fluctuating exchange rates, and the impact of global events have made it difficult to stay on course. But let’s face it, that’s part of the journey.
It’s no secret that the economic situation in Nigeria has been tough. With inflation biting harder than ever, many of us had to re-strategize, cut down expenses, and make sacrifices. Perhaps that grand plan to travel or buy a car, land or had to be postponed, or the business idea had to be shelved due to lack of funds. But here’s the thing: tough times don’t last, but tough people do!
Waxing Through the Remaining Months
So, what’s next? Should we abandon our goals because the year hasn’t gone as planned? Absolutely not! The remaining months of the year are still packed with potential. Whether you’re trying to save more, learn a new skill, or prioritize your health, it’s not too late to push through and make strides. Remember, it’s not how you start, but how you finish.
Here’s how to wax through the remaining months:
Re-evaluate and Adjust: Look at your resolutions and see where adjustments can be made. Maybe you can’t achieve the full goal, but can you hit a significant milestone?
Focus on What You Can Control: The economy may not be in your hands, but your attitude is. Stay positive, be resilient, and keep moving forward.
Celebrate Small Wins: Every step forward, no matter how small, is progress. Celebrate it!
Plan for the New Year: As you push through the rest of this year, start thinking ahead but do not procrastinate. What have you learned? How can you be even better prepared for next year?
So, whether it’s a Yah! or a Nah! on your New Year resolutions, remember that the story isn’t over. Use these remaining months to turn things around. After all, the year ends strong for those who finish strong!
