Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAU) was plunged into mourning after a 300-level Linguistics student, Emmanuel, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in a private hostel over the weekend.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but the university community is in shock. The National Association of Universities Students (NAUS) has called for a thorough investigation and urged the university management and security agents to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In a statement, NAUS Vice Chairman, Comrade Oladele Emmanuel, expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, stressing that the incident is a loss to the entire AAU community. He appealed for increased security measures, improved lighting, and emergency services to prevent such tragedies in the future.
