The Federal Government has officially approved a significant increase in the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from N33,000 to N77,000.

In a statement released Wednesday night, Caroline Embu, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NYSC, confirmed that the new allowance will take effect from July 2024. This development follows the recent enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act, 2024.

The statement also highlighted that the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission had communicated the decision to National Youth Service Corps in a letter dated September 25, 2024, signed by the Commission’s Chairman, Ekpo Nta.

Brigadier General YD Ahmed, National Youth Service Corp’s Director General, expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government for the increased allowance. He emphasized that the raise would not only provide financial relief to corps members but also boost their morale during their service year.
