Kogi State Government warns against Planned Anti-Government Protests

Kogi State Government warns Planned Anti-Government Protests

The Kogi State government has dissociated itself from the planned anti-government mass protest scheduled for August 1, stating that the state is solidly behind efforts by the Federal Government to put the economy back on track.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Kingsley Fanwo, said that the state government is proud of its citizens who are reportedly willing to march in solidarity with the President’s efforts to defend the economic interests of the poor. He warned against any attempt to destabilize the country through protests, adding that Nigerians must understand that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working hard to revive the nation’s economy.

According to Fanwo, the Federal Government has implemented various policies aimed at addressing the challenges faced by citizens, including fiscal and monetary policies that are already yielding positive results. The government has also injected economic stimulating incentives to address the challenges being faced by citizens.

The Kogi government emphasized that efforts are being made to revitalize key sectors such as agriculture, industry, infrastructure, education, and healthcare. Fanwo urged citizens to support the government’s efforts and avoid actions that could undermine the rebuilding process.

The state government’s stance comes as the Presidency accused Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of being behind the planned anti-government protest. However, the LP has denied the allegations.

Meanwhile, security agencies have begun mobilizing to checkmate the planned protest, which has raised concerns about the potential for violence. The Kogi government’s decision to reject the protest and back federal efforts to revive the economy is seen as a sign of its commitment to stability and progress in the state.
