Kwara State Sanitation Exercise: 300 Offenders Arrested, Commended Compliance
In a recent sanitation exercise held across Kwara State, a total of 300 offenders were arrested and prosecuted for violating sanitation laws in Ilorin, the state capital. The exercise, which took place on the last Saturday of every month, was conducted for three hours between 7:00 am and 10:00 am.
According to a statement by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Kamaldeen Aliagan, the state Commissioner for Environment, Nafisat Musa-Buge, expressed delight at the increased level of compliance by residents towards the sanitation exercise, particularly in the metropolis. However, she also expressed disappointment that despite enlightenment and awareness campaigns, some people still flouted the sanitation laws.
Musa-Buge urged residents to strictly adhere to the three-hour sanitation exercise, designated for cleaning their residential and business environments to maintain a clean and safe environment for healthy living. She commended residents for their cooperation and encouraged them to sustain the momentum.
The Commissioner also appreciated the mobile court judges, monitoring and security agents, transport unions, and relevant bodies for their dedication in the discharge of their duties.
The success of the exercise was attributed to the residents’ willingness to comply with sanitation regulations, which contributed to a clean and safe environment across the state. The exercise was conducted across various towns and villages, including the capital.
In a bid to maintain a clean and healthy environment, the state government has made it mandatory for residents to participate in the monthly sanitation exercise. The next exercise is scheduled to take place on the last Saturday of every month.
Overall, the sanitation exercise has been a significant step towards maintaining a clean and safe environment in Kwara State, and residents are encouraged to continue their efforts in sustaining this momentum.
