Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission to Begin Airlift of Pilgrims to Jerusalem on December 22, 2024
ABUJA – The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has announced that it will initiate the airlift of intending pilgrims to Jerusalem starting on December 22, 2024. In a statement released on Tuesday, the NCPC’s Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations, Celestine Toruka, emphasized the need for pilgrims to adhere to regulations, specifically warning against absconding upon their arrival in the holy land.
This announcement was made by Bishop Stephen Adegbite, the Executive Secretary of the NCPC, during a meeting with the Conference of States, which includes state chairpersons and secretaries of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards as well as representatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Bishop Adegbite indicated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss strategies for advancing the commission’s objectives, urging attendees to seek divine guidance in their service to the public. He expressed confidence that, with God’s grace, they would succeed in fulfilling their responsibilities effectively.
The NCPC leader reiterated a firm stance against any form of abscondment and corruption among pilgrims, underscoring the importance of integrity within the pilgrimage framework. He also commended President Bola Tinubu for his efforts to steer Nigeria towards a better path, stating, “Despite the challenges, Nigeria is still progressing towards its goals.”
Bishop David Moradeyo, Chairman of the Conference of States, expressed his gratitude for Bishop Adegbite’s effective leadership. He noted that the gathering would serve as a valuable forum for fruitful discussions in preparation for the upcoming December pilgrimage. Furthermore, Moradeyo announced that the Conference of States had called on its members to engage in fasting and prayer for the NCPC, aiming for smooth operations throughout the pilgrimage season.
