In a bid to promote environmental sustainability, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has pledged to provide a safer environment for the residents of the state. The governor made the commitment during a visit by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to the state, which was part of the institute’s Diamond Jubilee anniversary celebrations.

The NIPR team, led by National President Ike Neiliaku, was in Minna to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the institute, with a theme focused on safeguarding the environment of Nigeria. The team embarked on an early morning workout and tree planting exercise at the three arms zone, where they planted 60 trees to symbolize the institute’s 60 years of existence.

Governor Bago, who was represented by the Head of Service, Abubakar Salisu, assured the NIPR that his administration is committed to ensuring a safe environment and prioritizing the ongoing one million tree planting campaign in the state. The governor also emphasized the importance of agriculture in ensuring food security and invited the NIPR to assist in promoting the New Niger Agenda.

The Emir of Minma, Farouk Bahago, appreciated the NIPR for recognizing traditional institutions in the country and urged members to remain committed to attaining and sustaining the institute’s vision.

Neiliaku thanked Governor Bago for his developmental strides in the state and expressed optimism that the completion of the New Niger Agenda project would make Niger State unrecognizable due to its rapid development. He also highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability, citing deforestation as a major challenge facing the country.

The NIPR team also visited the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, where they were briefed on the hundreds of tractors purchased by the governor for agricultural development. The team also visited constructed residential quarters for commissioners and other principal officers.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Malagi, represented by the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Jubrin Ndace, assured the NIPR that the country will sustain its partnership with them in achieving national value chain policy.

In an interview with newsmen, Neiliaku highlighted the importance of public relations as a leadership function, stating that it informs the increase in values of PR for strategic and effective communication. His plans for future projects includes the establishment of a Public Relations and Leadership University in Nassarawa State.

The celebration marked a significant milestone in NIPR’s history and demonstrated its commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and leadership development.
