“$10,000 Account balance” – UAE Introduces New Visa Requirements for Nigerian Travelers

UAE Introduces New Visa Requirements for Nigerian Travelers

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced changes to its visa requirements for Nigerian passport holders, following the resumption of visa issuance. The news was disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on his official social media handle on July 15, 2024.

According to the new guidelines, one of the key changes is the introduction of a non-refundable visa application fee, which has increased from N155,500 to N640,000. However, it is essential to note that this fee does not guarantee a visa to the UAE, as the issued Document Verification Number (DVN) will be valid only for 14 days from when it is issued or from the time visa application has been processed by the visa application department, whichever comes first.

Visa Requirements for Nigerians to UAE

To obtain a visa, applicants must first obtain a DVN from the UAE’s official website at a cost of N640,000, excluding VAT. This is a new requirement introduced by the UAE government

In addition to the DVN, applicants must provide other supporting documents to secure a visa. These include:

  • A 6-month bank statement with a minimum account balance of $10,000
    • Round-trip flight tickets
    • Proof of hotel booking confirmed and paid
    • Payment of the visa fee using a credit card at the UAE Visa Centre in Abuja, Nigeria

The new requirements aim to streamline the visa application process and ensure that only eligible applicants are granted entry into the country. The UAE government has implemented these changes to enhance security and immigration controls.

Nigerian passport holders can now apply for visas to travel to the UAE starting July 15, 2024. It is essential for applicants to carefully review the new requirements and guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful application process.
