6 Suspects arrested for Operating 'One Chance' Robbery in Abuja

In a major breakthrough, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested six suspects involved in a notorious “one chance” robbery gang that targets unsuspecting residents in Abuja. The syndicate, comprising Abubakar Adams, Ismail Salisu, Yusuf Bello, Nasiru Saidi, Sani Usman, and Ibrahim Kasa, has been robbing passengers who board their vehicles, motorcycles, or tricycles and then push them off afterwards.

According to police sources, the suspects were arrested on June 16, 2024, following a tip-off from multiple victims who reported similar incidents of being robbed by the gang. The police recovered several dangerous weapons, including cutlasses and knives, as well as a stolen phone believed to have been taken from one of the victims.

The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, has commended the police team that arrested the suspects and assured the public that the command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police emergency lines.

The latest development comes on the heels of a similar bust in May 2024, where a car theft syndicate was uncovered in Abuja and Lagos. The syndicate was found to be stealing vehicles in Abuja and selling them in Lagos. A friend of one of the victims stumbled upon his stolen car in Lagos and alerted the police, leading to the recovery of the vehicle and the arrest of the culprits.

The FCT Police Command has vowed to continue its efforts to combat crime and ensure that criminals are brought to justice.
