Ex-Rivers Senator Lee Maeba Loses Mother

Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Former Senator Lee Maeba, who represented Rivers South-East District in the National Assembly, has lost his mother, Mrs. Erefori Nawa Maeba.

The news of her passing was confirmed in a statement released by Senator Maeba’s media aide, Letam Godgift, on Friday in Port Harcourt.

Mrs. Maeba passed away on September 5, 2024, at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital after a brief illness. She was 80 years old.

Senator Maeba, who served in the Senate from 2003 to 2011, was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and a former Rivers State governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections. He also served as Rivers PDP Vice Chairman from 2001 to 2003.

In the statement, Mrs. Maeba was described as “a beloved mother, community pillar, and compassionate soul,” and her loss was noted with deep sadness.

“We offer our deepest condolences to the Maeba family and the community during this difficult time and extend our heartfelt sympathies to all touched by her life and legacy. May her memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all who knew and loved her,” the statement read.
