In a move to enhance the welfare of judges at the Kwara State High Court, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq presented 11 top-of-the-range Toyota Fortuner Jeeps to the judges on Workers’ Day. Additionally, the Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara, received a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser for the use of his office.
The presentation ceremony took place at the State High Court in Ilorin, where Justice Adebara expressed gratitude to the governor for his support. He revealed that five Toyota Fortuner Jeeps were allocated to five High Court Judges in February this year, and the latest presentation brings the total to 12 vehicles.
According to Justice Adebara, the purchase of a brand new vehicle is a requirement for the appointment of a new judge, as mandated by the National Judicial Council (NJC). He praised Governor AbdulRazaq for his prompt approval and release of funds for the vehicle procurement in the 2024 budget.
The Chief Judge noted that the last time judges received vehicles from the State government was eight years ago, and the new vehicles will enhance their work and dignity. He expressed appreciation for the governor’s prioritization of the judiciary’s needs and looked forward to the remaining judges receiving their vehicles soon.
This gesture is seen as a significant boost to the morale of the judges and a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to the welfare of the judiciary in Kwara State.
