In its weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, NiMet warned that residents in the North should brace for moderate dust haze, particularly in Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Kano, Yobe, and Jigawa States. It also advised caution due to the potential for dust particles lingering in the atmosphere.

For the North Central region, NiMet projected partly cloudy skies in the mornings, followed by isolated thunderstorms later in the day, especially over the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Benue States.

In the South, the agency predicted early morning thunderstorms in areas such as Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom States on Sunday. Thunderstorms are expected to persist into the afternoon and evening across many southern states.

Moving into Monday, the forecast anticipates predominantly sunny skies in the far northern states. However, isolated morning thunderstorms are likely in parts of Adamawa and Taraba States, with storms expected to spread to Kaduna, Bauchi, and Gombe States as the day progresses.

Similarly, the North Central region is likely to experience morning thunderstorms over Plateau, Nasarawa, and Benue States, with more widespread thunderstorms anticipated during the afternoon and evening hours.

Southern states are not exempt, as morning thunderstorms are predicted for Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Edo States. Further stormy weather is expected across the South later in the day.

On Tuesday, NiMet envisaged sunny skies interspersed with patches of clouds over the North, while parts of Adamawa and Taraba States could see early morning thunderstorms. Later in the day, storm activities are expected to extend into Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba States.

The forecast for the North Central region on Tuesday includes partly cloudy skies during the morning, transitioning to thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening across areas like the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, and Niger States.

Meanwhile, southern states such as Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Bayelsa are expected to experience morning thunderstorms, with more storms anticipated across the region as the day advances.

NiMet urged members of the public to take precautionary measures, noting that strong winds could precede rainfall in areas expected to experience thunderstorms. It also called on airline operators to obtain updated, airport-specific weather information from NiMet to aid effective flight planning and avoid weather-related disruptions.
