The Rivers State High Court has granted an injunction restraining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its congress in the state.

The court’s order, issued on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, specifically bars the PDP, its National Chairman, National Financial Secretary, National Organizing Secretary, and their agents from conducting any congress in Rivers State until further notice.

The injunction was granted pending the hearing and determination of a suit filed before the court.

Recall that a crisis emerged between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the National Working Committee of the party after the constitution of the Caretaker Committee Members of the PDP in Rivers State, stemming from the inclusion of new names in the original list.
