Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Gunmen launched a midnight attack on the Action People’s Party (APP) secretariat, shooting a security guard in the process.
This incident comes less than a month after the party’s secretariat in the New GRA was bombed.
Sunny Wokekoro, the state chairman of APP, addressed journalists at the party’s secretariat on Wednesday, expressing concern about the unclear circumstances surrounding the shooting. The injured security guard is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Despite police officers being deployed to the secretariat after the previous bombing, they have yet to brief the party on the latest attack. Wokekoro questioned the police’s ability to identify the culprits, citing the lack of progress in the investigation into last month’s explosion.
Wokekoro and party leaders took journalists to the hospital where the injured security guard was being treated. However, hospital staff prevented journalists from speaking with the victim.
APP Vows To Continue Activities
Despite the attacks, the APP chairman insisted that the party will not be deterred from carrying out its activities and participating in the upcoming local government election next month.
