In defiance of a 24-hour curfew in Kano, protesters have taken to the streets in the Minjibir Local Government area to voice their discontent over the country’s hardships.
The protesters, holding placards with various inscriptions, conducted a peaceful demonstration near the local government headquarters, according to resident Tasiu Minjibir, who spoke to Vanguard. Their demands included the reversal of the fuel subsidy removal, among other issues.
The curfew, imposed by Governor Abba Yusuf on Thursday evening, was a response to previous protests being hijacked by armed hoodlums. Despite this, the Minjibir demonstrators maintained a peaceful stance during their demonstration.
