Russian Kursk Region Evacuates After Ukrainian Invasion
Over 76,000 people have been evacuated from Russia’s Kursk region

As reported by local authorities, following a significant Ukrainian offensive that began earlier this week. The Ukrainian military has advanced up to 20 kilometers into Russian territory, marking the most substantial Ukrainian attack on Russian soil since the conflict started in 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has labeled the Ukrainian action a severe provocation. Despite General Valery Gerasimov’s announcement that the invasion has been repelled, Russian forces are still struggling to push Ukrainian troops back across the border. Reports indicate that the situation has stabilized after Russia deployed additional troops. A verified video shows a convoy of destroyed Russian military trucks in Kursk, including one marked with the Z symbol, used by Moscow for its military campaign in Ukraine.

In a related development, Belarus is reinforcing its border with Ukraine, particularly in the Gomel and Mazyr regions. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko condemned recent Ukrainian drone incursions, warning that any further provocations would be met with a response.

The Ukrainian advance has raised concerns in Moscow, particularly regarding the Kursk nuclear power plant, which is critical to southern Russia’s electricity supply. The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency has highlighted the increased military activity in the region and has called for restraint to ensure the safety of the plant.
