Pager Explosions in Syria and Lebanon Target IRGC and Hezbollah, Amid Rising Tensions with Israel
At least 19 members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed after their pagers exploded in Deir ez-Zur, eastern Syria, according to a report by Saudi news outlet Al-Hadath on Wednesday. The incident also left 150 IRGC members wounded, as reported by Army Radio.
This comes just a day after a similar attack that reportedly killed 4,000 Hezbollah members, also from pager explosions. Foreign reports suggest Israeli forces, including the Mossad and IDF, were responsible for the attack.
Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani was among those injured, as confirmed by Iranian state-owned Mehr News Agency.
In a separate incident the next day, IDF artillery and airstrikes targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, hitting areas such as Odaisseh, Markaba, and Maroun El Ras.
