Trump Administration Sets Aggressive ICE Arrest Quotas Amid Increased Raids

The Trump administration has reportedly mandated Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to achieve a minimum of 1,800 arrests each day, establishing a target of at least 75 arrests per office across its 25 regional locations. According to various sources, these directives come as ICE has already conducted over 4,500 arrests since Trump resumed office, with operations recently taking place in several major sanctuary cities, including New York, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston.

During a segment on CNN, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller confirmed the existence of these quotas, emphasizing that “the numbers you cited are a floor, not a ceiling.” He elaborated that the expectation is not only to meet this minimum but to surpass it significantly.

Officials within the Trump administration anticipate that ICE will aim for between 1,200 and 1,500 arrests daily across the nation, as reported by the Washington Post. While ICE was unavailable for immediate comment in response to the Washington Post’s inquiry, recent operations highlight the increased focus on apprehending individuals with criminal histories. On Tuesday morning, acting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem joined ICE agents, as well as officials from Homeland Security Investigations and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), for early morning raids targeting illegal immigrant criminals in New York City.

During one such operation, agents successfully detained an alleged leader of the Tren de Aragua, who was wanted after a notorious apartment burglary in Aurora, Colorado. Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, 25, was apprehended by heavily armed HSI officers in a Bronx apartment building located just across from PS 11, the Highbridge School.

Tom Homan, Trump’s Border Czar, expressed confidence in the efforts of ICE as he accompanied agents during a raid in Chicago. He noted that the agency’s priority remains the arrest of illegal migrants with criminal records who are deemed threats to national security. “I think the president’s happy, but we’re going to make him a lot happier,” Homan declared in an interview with Fox News, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to maintaining its aggressive approach. “We’re not gonna let up. We’re gonna put our foot on the gas and we’re gonna go.”
