Additionally, Shettima will use the visit to present Nigeria’s economic vision, highlighting the ongoing reforms under the Tinubu administration aimed at creating a business-friendly environment.
Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has embarked on a two-day visit to Sweden to represent the country in a series of high-level bilateral engagements, the presidency confirmed.
His departure comes as President Bola Tinubu remains on a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom.
The Vice President’s trip, sanctioned by President Tinubu, is aimed at fostering cooperation between Nigeria and Sweden in several sectors, including ICT, innovation, education, digitalization, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, Shettima is scheduled to meet key Swedish officials, including Crown Princess Victoria and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
During the visit, the Vice President will also engage with Norrsken, a Stockholm-based venture capital impact investor that recently launched Norrsken22, a $205 million tech investment fund for Africa. Nkwocha highlighted that 40% of the fund is expected to be directed toward Nigerian technology entrepreneurs, offering significant opportunities for growth in Nigeria’s tech sector.
“Twelve Nigerian private sector companies, currently collaborating with Sweden, will also be part of the delegation, traveling independently as a private sector bloc,” Nkwocha stated.
Additionally, the Vice President will use the visit to present Nigeria’s economic vision, highlighting the ongoing reforms under the Tinubu administration aimed at creating a business-friendly environment. Nigeria’s potential as Africa’s largest economy will also be showcased to investors.
The Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria on Saturday.
