Beijing – China has announced that it will host a trilateral meeting with Russia and Iran to discuss Tehran’s nuclear program. The discussions, set for Friday, will bring together senior diplomats from the three nations to address the ongoing challenges surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities.

The meeting aims to facilitate an exchange of views on Iran’s nuclear issue and other matters of mutual concern.
China has consistently advocated for diplomatic solutions regarding Iran’s nuclear program and has supported the restoration of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The agreement, which placed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief, unraveled after the United States withdrew in 2018 under former President Donald Trump. Although Iran initially complied with the deal for a year after the U.S. exit, it later scaled back its commitments, leading to increased tensions and stalled negotiations to revive the accord.
As a key player in global diplomatic efforts, China has urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and seek peaceful resolutions. It has also strengthened its strategic ties with both Iran and Russia in recent years, positioning itself as a mediator in complex geopolitical issues. The upcoming meeting is expected to reinforce the Asian gaint’s role in shaping the dialogue around Iran’s nuclear future while highlighting its deepening cooperation with Moscow and Tehran.
