New York – A tragic incident occurred on a Turkish Airlines flight when a pilot collapsed while in the air, prompting an emergency landing in New York City. According to an airline spokesperson, Yahya Ustun, the flight, designated TK204, had just departed from Seattle, Washington, on Tuesday evening, heading for Istanbul.

In a message shared on X, previously known as Twitter, Ustun reported that the incident involved a 59-year-old pilot who had been with Turkish Airlines since 2007. Efforts to administer first aid during the flight were unsuccessful, which led the flight crew to make the decision to land the aircraft as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the pilot was pronounced dead prior to the landing.

Ustun also mentioned that the pilot had recently undergone a medical examination in March that did not reveal any health issues. The circumstances surrounding his collapse remain under investigation as the airline handles this devastating event.
