Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured the Actors Guide of Nigeria (AGN) of his administration’s unwavering support for the victims of a recent boat mishap.
Among those tragically lost in the incident was Precious Chimaobi Ofurum, a talented Nollywood actor hailing from Rivers State, alongside the popular actor Jrn Pope and others.
The fatal accident occurred last week in Delta State during a movie shoot, claiming the lives of three individuals, including Precious Ofurum, who was born in Rivers State.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara conveyed his heartfelt condolences through Dr. George Nwaeke, the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, at the Government House in Port Harcourt. He acknowledged Precious Ofurum’s dedication and determination to succeed within Nigeria, describing him as an exemplary Nigerian whose passing is deeply unfortunate.
Emphasizing his administration’s commitment to youth development, Governor Fubara assured the bereaved family of the government’s steadfast support during this challenging time.
During a solidarity visit, Mr. Eric Stevenson, the convener, recounted the tragic incident that befell several actors returning from a movie set in Asaba, Delta State.
He expressed gratitude for the Governor’s prompt response and expressed hope that the State Government would swiftly provide comfort to the bereaved family.
