Bandits Abduct Two Journalists and Their Families in kaduna

In a daring attack on Saturday night, bandits stormed Dahjonu community in the Millennium City of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting two journalists, their wives, and children. Abdulgafar Alabelewe, the current chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna State Council, was among those kidnapped along with his wife and two children.

The bandits, who arrived at the community around 10:30 pm, shot indiscriminately before breaking into the homes of their targets. According to eyewitnesses, they scaled the fence and shattered doors and windows to gain entry. Abdulgafar’s home was targeted first, with the bandits picking him, his wife, and two of their children. They later returned one of the children and left with the other three.

Aodu’s home was also breached by the bandits, who abducted him, his wife, and left their sick daughter behind. The family member who spoke to our correspondent described the scene as chaotic, with the bandits shooting into the air after leaving the community.

As of press time, efforts to get a comment from the Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful as his phone line was not connecting.

The abduction of these two journalists and their families has sent shockwaves through the media community in Kaduna State, with many calling for their safe return.
