Thuraya VP Martin Kaufmann's Luggage Goes missing At Nnamdi Azikwe Airport

Abuja, Nigeria – Luggage belonging to Martin Kaufmann, the Vice President of Products at Thuraya Satellite Communications, was reported missing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Tuesday. The incident was made public on Wednesday during an official partnership event between the telecommunications company and TSAT Communications.

Thuraya Satellite Communications

Thuraya is recognized as the sixth largest satellite operator globally, providing advanced communication technologies across over 150 countries, including on land, at sea, and in the air. Kaufmann, who usually appears in formal attire, was seen at the event wearing a black jacket and grey trousers.

In an interview with PUNCH Online, Kaufmann confirmed the unfortunate loss of his luggage but mentioned that airport authorities had reassured him it would be located and returned to him shortly. “Yes, this occurred yesterday when I arrived in the country. However, I have been informed not to worry, as it should be found and returned to me today,” he stated.

During the event, several attendees approached Kaufmann to offer their support, and even the event’s host, Dorkong Rimdan, light-heartedly offered him an alternative. “If your luggage isn’t recovered, Mr. Kaufmann, I have a few outfits I could lend you. But let’s hope it turns up soon,” she quipped.

Attempts to gather comments from officials of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development present at the event were unsuccessful. They suggested contacting Tunde Moshood, the Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Minister, for more information. When reached by phone, Moshood expressed surprise at the situation and stated, “Did you say this happened here in Abuja? I was not aware of it. I will look into this and speak with the relevant parties.”
