Akure, Nigeria — A 15-year-old female student of Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi Akoko, has been remanded at the Ondo State Juvenile Home, Akure, by a Chief Magistrate in Ondo State, Olateju Odenusi-Fadeyi.
The student is accused of fatally stabbing her 17-year-old colleague, Habib Salau, during a scuffle after school hours.
The court did not take the plea of the accused, as the case awaits advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The defendant faces a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
According to the police prosecutor, Josephine Awana, the incident occurred on October 3 at around 3:30 p.m. in Imo, Arigidi Akoko. Awana stated that the defendant and another individual, who is still at large, conspired to commit the murder.
The prosecutor revealed that the fight ensued when the deceased allegedly confronted the defendant while they were on their way home. The defendant reportedly claimed that during the altercation, someone handed her a knife and instructed her to stab Salau in the neck, which led to his death.
