Abuja, Nigeria – In a recent ruling, the Kuje Magistrate Court has granted bail to Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives for Aba North and South, who is facing charges related to an alleged assault on a Bolt driver.

The incident, which reportedly took place outside Ikwechegh’s residence in Abuja, has led to allegations of abuse of office, assault, and threats to life against the legislator.

During the court session on Wednesday, Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id approved the bail request for Ikwechegh, setting bail at N500,000. Additionally, the court stipulated that Ikwechegh must provide two sureties of equal bond value, with each surety required to reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present a valid utility bill as proof of address.

The case has been adjourned to November 8 for trial.
