Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 16e, the latest addition to its iPhone 16 lineup, with pre-orders set to commence on February 21 and the official release slated for February 28.
This new model incorporates Apple’s state-of-the-art A18 chip and introduces the C1 cellular modem, marking the first instance of Apple developing its own modem. This innovation aims to enhance integration with iOS, boost power efficiency, and deliver superior network performance.
The iPhone 16e also features Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI-driven functionalities designed to elevate the user experience while safeguarding privacy. Kaiann Drance, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, praised the iPhone 16e for being a robust and cost-effective choice within the lineup. “The iPhone 16e encapsulates the beloved features found in the iPhone 16 series, including exceptional battery life, high-speed performance thanks to the A18 chip, an innovative dual-camera system, and Apple Intelligence,” he stated. He expressed excitement about the iPhone 16e, describing it as a powerful yet more affordable option aimed at expanding the iPhone experience to a broader audience.
The new device will be offered in two colors, black and white, and will come with three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
Key Features of the iphone 16e

The iPhone 16e is equipped with a 48MP Fusion camera that allows users to take high-resolution images with optical-quality zoom, including a 2x Telephoto lens to cater to photography enthusiasts.
In terms of aesthetics, the iPhone 16e features two matte finishes and is built to withstand moisture and dust with an IP68 rating. It is protected by Apple’s Ceramic Shield, which the company touts as being more durable than any other smartphone glass.
Designed to leverage Apple Intelligence, the device offers AI-enhanced features, such as the Clean Up tool, which enables users to eliminate unwanted elements from photos. The Photos app has been upgraded to include natural language search capabilities.
Apple has also introduced a feature called Image Playground, allowing users to create personalized emojis (Genmoji) and AI-generated graphics. Furthermore, the iPhone 16e features an Action Button equipped with the new Visual Intelligence capability. This allows users to point the camera at objects—whether they be animals, plants, eateries, or event posters—to receive relevant information or initiate AI-powered actions, echoing functionalities found in Google Lens.
Additionally, Siri has received an upgrade to enhance its conversational skills and now features integration with ChatGPT. Apple assures users that access to ChatGPT will be free of charge and will not require account creation, with built-in privacy protections that anonymize users’ IP addresses while ensuring OpenAI will not retain any queries.
