2023 Presidency: Jonathan Wins Online Polls, Triumphs Over Obi, Atiku, Tinubu, Others

Nigerians voted massively to have former president Goodluck Jonathan returned as president in 2023 in two opinion polls organized by REPORT AFRIQUE last week.

The polls which lasted between March 24 to March 27th, 2022 and were set on REPORT AFRIQUE’s verified Twitter handle and on the REPORT AFRIQUE website, saw Jonathan triumph over the likes of Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Pius Anyim, Aminu Tambuwai, Yemi Osinbajo, Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, Bukola Saraki and Yahaya Bello.

On the website poll, out of a total of 46,751 votes registered, Jonathan led with 14,546 votes followed by Peter Obi with 11,545 votes ,Yemi Osinbajo with 5,466 , Saraki with 5,436, Atiku Abubakar with 3,424 , Rotimi Amaechi with 3,232, Bola Tinubu with 2,036, Aminu Tambuwai with 657 , Pius Anyim with 311  and Yahaya Bello with 98 votes.

On the Twitter poll, Jonathan also led with 74% followed by Peter Obi with 23%, Bola Tinubu with 2% and Atiku Abubakar with 1%.

Overall, Jonathan maintained a clear lead over other aspirants in both polls with many voters commending the process saying it was transparent. A few users, however, complained the absence of some presidential hopeful in the polls.

2023 Elections: Nigerians Will Vote Candidate over Party

More Nigerians also voted that candidate will be priority over party as deciding factors in the 2023 elections on one of the questions on the website poll.

Out of a total of 6,076 votes registered on the question, 50% voted for candidate as a major deciding factor while 17% voted party as a deciding factor. 33% voted that both candidate and party will taken into account in the 2023 elections.

In another opinion poll organized by a youth group known as Fix Naija to hint on how Nigerians are likely to vote in the 2023 presidential contest, former president Goodluck Jonathan also emerged winner ahead of other presidential aspirants.

The organizers noted that the exercise was carried out on the streets of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
