President Buhari has tested negative to coronavirus while his chief of staff,Abba Kyari, tested positive days after returning from an official trip to Germany, Report Afrique has learnt.
Kiari is said to have ran the test on Saturday based on medical advice, although he was not exhibiting any symptoms. The result came back on Monday positive and he has been quarantined at the moment.
Following Kyari’s result, Buhari was also advised to run a test which returned negative according to sources at the villa.
Alongside a minister, Buhari’s chief of staff had attended a meeting in Germany with officials of Siemens to discuss issues relating to the Nigerian power sector.
A top government source had on Monday told Pressmen that Kyari had been seriously “down” since returning from a trip abroad.
Kyari visited Germany and Egypt and only returned this week.
Reports of Kyari’s status of COVID-19 was disclosed after the federal executive council meeting was suspended indefinitely.
A letter Kyari wrote to the leadership of the national assembly on how federal lawmakers returning from overseas trips were allegedly evading screening had gone viral earlier on Monday.
Egypt has 327 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and 14 deaths while Germany has 29,056 infections and 123 deaths. Nigeria currently has 40 cases of coronavirus.
