One of the victims of police brutality involving the now popular torture and death of Ikoku mechanic, Chima Ikwunado, has narrated how the police hanged them for 6 hours down in their cells until his colleague Chima died.
Narrating the gruesome ordeal, the victim who was released from prison yesterday after the story went viral on the social media, had serious injuries that depicted his claims of the gruesome torture he and his colleagues underwent while in police custody.
Chima and his colleagues were arrested by a team of officers under the e-crack unit attached to the Mile one Police station in Rivers state on the 19th of December, 2019 for driving against traffic. They were allegedly tortured and charged for robbery afterwards.
The issue has generated condemnations from the public against the Nigeria Police since it was made public by activist Comrade Phils.
Civil society groups in Rivers state have issued a joint press release demanding for justice and the sack of the officers involved.
