A footage of chopper conveying Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to a campaign rally crash landing in Kabba, Kogi State has emerged online.
In the two-minute clip, the aircraft could be seen lying on its side, with emergency workers pulling people out to safety.
The video captures pandemonium on the field where it was to land as citizens around the area could be seen running helter skelter.
Military officers can be seen in the clip trying to force open the helicopter and rescue the vice president and other occupants.
Osinbajo and all the occupants on the chopper survived the crash continued on the campaign afterwards.
“VP Osinbajo’s chopper crash lands in Kabba. But he and the entire crew safe.
“He is continuing with his engagements and plans for the day in Kogi State”,
spokesman to the vice president, Mr Laolu Akande, tweeted on Twitter .
The Vice President who was in the state for the Trader Moni programme in Okene, Kabba and Idah arrived the ancient town of Kabba at about 2pm with other eminent personalities on board the chopper.
According to an eyewitness, the vice president’s helicopter crash landed when it was about to land in the township stadium.
The eyewitness said the chopper managed to land at about 2.22pm at the township stadium before the rotor blade of the helicopter suddenly detached from the rotor mast to the surprise of party faithful who had gathered to welcome the vice president.
It is the second time Mr Osinbajo’s helicopter would crash-land.
In June 2017, he survived a similar accident when the chopper he was traveling in crash-landed shortly after take off in Gwagawalada, Abuja.
He was in the area council to attend the graduation of 40 senior officers of the Nigeria Customs Service.
