Spotify Reports Over $100 Million Payout to Podcast Creators in Q1 2025
Music streaming powerhouse Spotify announced on Monday that it has distributed more than $100 million to audio and video podcast creators in the first quarter of 2025, marking the first time the company has disclosed such figures.
In 2024, the Swedish company achieved a significant revenue milestone, generating 15.7 billion euros (approximately $17.9 billion). In a statement, Spotify emphasized its dedication to the creator economy, stating, “For the first time, we’re revealing that Spotify paid out more than $100 million to podcast publishers and podcasters worldwide in the first quarter of 2025 alone.” This figure highlights Spotify’s growing influence as a premier platform for both audio and video creators.
The payments made by Spotify encompass earnings from advertisements and income generated through the Spotify Partner Program, which was introduced earlier this year in select markets. This program aims to provide content creators with enhanced opportunities to monetize their work.
Since introducing non-music audio and video content in 2015, Spotify has significantly ramped up its investment in podcasts. The company notably acquired the acclaimed podcast production company Gimlet Media in 2019, further solidifying its position in the podcasting space.
Spotify is expected to release its earnings for the first quarter on Tuesday, following its first annual net profit of 1.1 billion euros reported in 2024.
