Abuja, Nigeria – The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported a fresh surge in the country’s inflation rate, which climbed to 24.23 percent in March 2025, up from 23.18 percent recorded in February.
Nigeria’s annual inflation rate inched up to 24.23% in March 2025, from 23.18% recorded in February, which had marked the lowest level since June 2023. Although food inflation—the largest component of the inflation index—remained high, it eased slightly to 21.79% from 23.51% the previous month. Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes volatile items like agricultural products and energy, accelerated to 24.43% from 23.01% in February. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 3.90% in March, up from a 2.04% increase in the prior month.
