Veteran Nollywood, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs is hale and hearty, a colleague, Kemi Lala Akindoju has confirmed, refuting viral rumours of his death.
Kemi, an award-winning actress stated this on Twitter while debunking the rumored death of the former.
“Uncle Olu Jacobs is alive and well. Very much so. I just got off the phone with him. Please stop spreading fake news”. she wrote
Rumours of Olu Jacobs’ death filtered through the internet Tuesday.
Report Afrique also spoke with some of Jacobs coleagues in the film industry who confirmed that the veteran actor is alive.
Pictures of the actor surfaced online early this year suggesting he was sick and needed prayers.
Jacobs, 78, has not been rarely seen in public for a while now. The rumour of his death took the internet by storm and immediately dominated conversations on Twitter and Facebook.
With many accolades to his name in he film world, Jacobs is distinguished as an Internationally acclaimed actor and film executive of Nigerian descent.
Olu Jacobs has starred Hollywood, Nollywood and Ghallywood movies. He has also acted in several British TV series. He won Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 2007 African Movie Academy Awards, Industry Merit Award at the 2013 AMVCA and AMAA Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2016.
He was born on 11th July, 1942. He is from Ogun state, married to an actress Joke Silva and they have two grown up sons Olusoji Jacobs and Olugbenga Jacobs as well as Dayo Jacobs.
