Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) Releases 2018 Nomination List

The Africa Film Academy organizers of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) has released the nomination list for the 2018 edition of the award event. The list released during the nominations party held Friday- 3rd of August, 2018 – at the Wheabaker, Lagos, Nigeria, had in attendance popular Nollywood stars and corporate stakeholders in the African entertainment industry.

Speaking to REPORTS AFRIQUE, the founder of AMAA, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe said the award event has been consistent for 14 years in its reward system. She enjoined Africans to get their tickets for the main award event scheduled for 18th to 22nd September, 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda.

“One of the beauty of the AMAA AWARDS is the process of selecting films into different categories. This year we had over 500 films submissions and each had to be watched and watched again by the juror.” She added.

 

The nominations party which was sponsored by MOET had eminent guests in attendance among whom were the Rwandan Ambassador to Nigeria,Mr Stansislas Kamanzi  actress Kate Henshaw, Frank Donga and award winning Nollywood producer, Kunle Folayan and a host of other distinguished dignitaries.

Announcing the nominees, Mr Shuaibu Husseni, chairman of the selection committee highlighted the transparent process employed to ensure that the selection was fair to all submissions. He made the announcement on behalf of the president of the AMAA Jury for 2018, Dorothee Wenner. See full list below:
