Tragic Passing of Actor Hudson Meek After Vehicle Incident
Hudson Meek, a young actor recognized for his role in the 2017 film “Baby Driver” and for voicing the character Bada in the children’s series “Badanamu Stories,” has tragically died following a serious incident involving a moving vehicle.
The Jefferson County coroner’s office reported that Meek, aged 16, fell from a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, on the evening of December 19. He incurred severe blunt force trauma and was urgently transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. Sadly, he passed away two days later as a result of his injuries.
The Vestavia Hills Police Department has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event. While officials have yet to provide comments on the case, the coroner’s office has confirmed that inquiries are ongoing.
In a heartfelt statement shared on his Instagram account, Meek’s family expressed their sorrow, stating, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
Describing his death as a sudden and devastating loss, Meek’s family highlighted in his official obituary that he was an organ donor, providing comfort in knowing he would continue to assist others even after his passing. The obituary did not specify the circumstances of his death.
Meek’s filmography included portraying a younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character Baby in “Baby Driver.” He also had roles in CW’s “Legacies,” Hulu’s “Genius,” and NBC’s crime drama “Found.” His family noted that additional projects featuring him are set to be released in 2025.
A resident of Alabama, Hudson Joseph Meek was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he was an active member of the Rebel football team. He participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and honor choir, and enjoyed activities with friends, particularly water sports and outdoor adventures. He was a devoted fan of “The Simpsons,” and relished playing and watching various sports, especially football, basketball, and boxing, as well as supporting the Auburn Tigers.
Described as reflective yet determined, Meek became a certified open water scuba diver at the age of 13 and achieved his advanced certification later that year. He traveled to all 50 U.S. states and aspired to visit all seven continents. He was a committed member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, frequently attending youth events.
The obituary painted a vivid picture of Meek’s vibrant personality, stating he was confident, spirited in his beliefs, impulsive, and known for his quick wit. He had a knack for storytelling that often blended fact with humor, enjoyed harmless pranks, and found joy in making others laugh. The family remarked that he thrived on interacting with and serving new people, embodying a dynamic spirit that embraced life to the fullest.
Hudson Meek leaves behind his parents, Derek and Lani Meek, along with his older brother Tucker, his grandmothers, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
