The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to bring businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, before the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

He faces charges related to the misuse of the Nigerian currency.

Cubana Chief Priest will appear before Justice Kehinde Ogundare to answer to a three-count charge of purportedly spraying and mishandling Naira notes during a social gathering, which contravenes the Central Bank Act of 2007.

According to the charges filed on April 4 by the EFCC’s prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, along with seven other legal representatives of the commission’s executive chairman, it is alleged that Okechukwu Pascal, on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel in Lagos, tampered with N500 notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them for an extended period, violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.

The second count accuses Okechukwu Pascal of a similar offense during a social event in Lagos in 2020, while the third count pertains to a similar incident in January 2024.

It’s noteworthy that the EFCC recently secured the conviction of popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, on similar charges, resulting in a six-month prison sentence.
