VeryDarkMan Denies Defamation Claims Against Human Rights Lawyer
Martins Vincent Otse, a prominent social media critic known as Verydarkman, has denied allegations of defamation against renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN. The denial comes after Nigerian rapper Falz threatened to take legal action against Verydarkman following allegations made in a leaked audio recording linking Falz and his father, Femi Falana, to a bribery scandal involving crossdresser Bobrisky and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a video post on his Instagram account, Verydarkman expressed his deep respect for Falana, whom he referred to as his “Uncle”. He also clarified that his intention was not to defame Falana, but rather to question the validity of Bobrisky’s claims in the leaked audio.
Verydarkman’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has also responded to the matter, stating that his client only published the voice recording to prompt a thorough investigation into the allegations made by Bobrisky. Adeyanju emphasized that the focus should be on investigating the allegations rather than pursuing a defamation case.
“Our client holds Mr Femi Falana, SAN, in high esteem and recognizes his commitment to protecting human rights and the rule of law in Nigeria,” Adeyanju said. “In light of the preceding, our client believes that the appropriate line of action in the circumstances is an interagency investigation into the allegations contained in the voice recording rather than pursuing a case of defamation.”
Adeyanju also took a jab at Falz, suggesting that he should focus on addressing the issues raised by Bobrisky rather than pursuing a defamation case. “For Falz: he should go and meet Bob about everything he/she said. Falz even admitted to having a phone call with Bob. End of discussion,” Adeyanju wrote on Facebook.
The controversy has sparked intense debate on social media, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations made by Bobrisky. The outcome of the dispute is yet to be determined.
