Nigerian actress and politician Tonto Dikeh has responded to the controversy surrounding a viral video of her altercation with an Abuja-based car dealer.
The video, posted by social media critic Vincent Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), showed Tonto Dikeh in a physical confrontation with the dealer over an alleged unpaid debt of N2 million.
VDM accused Tonto Dikeh of hypocrisy, pointing out her involvement in the Justice for Mohbad movement while allegedly engaging in bullying behavior herself. He questioned the implications if she were to gain political power in Nigeria, suggesting it could lead to abuse of power. In his word:
“This same person wan enter power. She never get political power now, see what she is doing. Imagine if somebody like Tonto Dikeh gets political power in Nigeria, just imagine the terror, imagine what common people will face, we don finish be dat. The sad part is that she can get away with it. Imagine say na man beat or harass her like that on top his own money?”
In response to the backlash, Tontolet took to her Instagram stories, sharing a post with a rolling and laughing-out-loud emoji, subtly addressing the situation without a formal statement.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many debating the actions of both parties involved.
