Popular Nigerian musician, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido allegedly rejected the sum of N100m given to him by governor Nyesom Wike of River state according to sources close the River state government.
Sources informed WIRED Nigeria that Davido allegedly rejected the money when he paid the governor a courtesy call in the Rivers state government house and endorsed the #OneMillionYouthForWike campaign.
Davido had come to Port Harcourt to shoot a video of his latest song with Duncan Mighty titled AZA and had visited the governor through another entertainment mugul, Soso Soberekon, who also hails from Rivers state. Soso Soberekon was said to have been very angry with the singer for rejecting the money.
Governor Wike who was very shocked at the singer’s refusal of his offer, became fascinated with the singer. He eventually gave a full government escort to take the Singer to the airport when he was leaving the state and brokered a partnership deal with the singer’s company.
Davido also announced that, in partnership with Rivers state, his organisation will organize a major music concert in Port Harcourt in December where local and international music stars will participate. He appealed to the Rivers State Governor to support the governorship campaign of his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke for Osun State Government House.
