Jay-Z, Diddy’s Sex Assault Lawsuit Dismissed by Accuser

A civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault against hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, filed by a woman claiming an assault at age 13, has been withdrawn, according to court documents released Friday. The suit, which also implicated Sean “Diddy” Combs, was dismissed “with prejudice,” preventing its future refiling.

The lawsuit, lodged in December with the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleged that Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, and Combs sexually assaulted the plaintiff at a party following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000. The complaint described the assault as a collaborative act, with the victim alleging that Carter and Combs took turns assaulting her while another celebrity observed without intervening.

Jay-Z, a 55-year-old billionaire, welcomed the closure of the case. In a statement, he condemned the lawsuit as baseless and “fictitious,” emphasizing the emotional toll the accusations had placed on his family.

“This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims,” Jay-Z stated. “I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

While the details of a potential settlement remain undisclosed, the abrupt dismissal of the case suggests a resolution may have been reached.

Separately, Combs is facing criminal charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, stemming from accusations of sexual abuse and coercion of women into drug-fueled sexual encounters. Combs, also 55, has denied the accusations, with his trial currently scheduled to commence on May 5.
