Nigerian singer Oluwajuwonlo Iledare, professionally known as Jaywon, faces backlash for releasing his new album “Evergreen” during the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests across Nigeria.

A controversial influencer known as Ruth took to X to express her outrage against the artist and highlighted the contrast between he’s actions and those of fellow artist Tems, who postponed her music video release in solidarity with the protests.

Ruth further accused him of being indifferent to the national crisis and issued a 24-hour ultimatum for him to remove the album from all streaming platforms or face cancellation within the industry. Her post read:

“Due to #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria, Tems canceled dropping her video, na Jaywon get mind drop Evergreen album because e no send us or what? Jaywon has 24 hours to remove the album on all platforms or we cancel him.”

The situation has ignited a debate on social media about the appropriateness of releasing new entertainment content during significant national movements.
