American singer Tailor Swift is expected to earn over $100m in royalties from streaming giant Spotify after emerging top artiste of the year 2023 on the platform.
Swift has reportedly hit 26.1 billion streams around the world since Jan, 2023 on Spotify earning her the number one artiste of the music streaming giant.
Swift was also named a billionaire after her Eras tour generated so much money putting her on the list of billionaires in the music industry. The movie version of the tour is ruling the box office. Her new recording of a nine-year-old album, 1989, is expected to be one of the hottest-selling records of the year.
To secure the No. 1 spot on Spotify Swift had to dethrone Bad Bunny’s three-year reign, revealed Spotify in its yearly wrapped session earlier in the week.
Reacting to the news of her Spotify gains, Taylor Swift thanked her fans on her verified account on the microblogging website X.
“I just wanted to say to anyone who listened to my music this year, anywhere in the world, thank you,” she wrote. “Getting named Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023 is truly the best birthday/holiday gift you could’ve given me.”
If Swift’s streams continue to steadily climb through December, she could rake in close to $130 million from the streaming giant, according to Spotify.
