Online activist Verydarkman (VDM), whose real name is Vincent Martins Otse, has leveled serious allegations against prominent Nigerian talent manager Ubi Franklin, accusing him of scamming an investor out of ₦10 million.
In a series of Instagram posts, Verydarkman claimed Ubi leveraged his ties with superstar Davido and his wife, Chioma, to gain the victim’s trust, only to fail in honoring his commitments when the investment contract expired in June.
Ubi Franklin is a notable figure in the Nigerian entertainment scene. He gained fame as the founder of Made Men Music Group, managing stars like Iyanya and Tekno, and has since worked closely with other leading artists. His association with Davido’s 30BG (30 Billion Gang) elevated his profile further, cementing his reputation as a talent manager and entrepreneur.
However, his career has not been without controversy. Ubi has faced criticism for alleged questionable business practices, and this latest accusation threatens to overshadow his contributions to the entertainment industry.
The Allegations
Verydarkman alleged that Ubi Franklin approached the investor with promises of lucrative returns, leveraging his perceived credibility within the industry. After receiving ₦10 million, Ubi reportedly failed to fulfill his obligations when the contract matured. Instead, he allegedly ghosted the investor, cutting off communication and offering no clarity on the repayment.
To support his claims, Verydarkman shared purported evidence, including WhatsApp chats and voice notes in which Ubi Franklin allegedly asked for more time to return the funds. The activist accused Ubi of preying on the trust built through his connections with Davido, describing the act as a breach of professional integrity.
In his Instagram post, Verydarkman wrote:
“I cannot understand how Ubi Franklin, a manager under 30BG, is out here scamming people. I have reported him to you before; anyways, Ubi Franklin, you have till Tuesday to pay up.”
Verydarkman warned that failure to repay the full amount by the deadline would lead to further exposure of Ubi’s alleged misconduct.
Fans Reactions
The allegations have sparked widespread discussions on social media. Fans expressed support for Verydarkman, commending his boldness in confronting Ubi Franklin. Many called on Ubi to address the claims and return the funds, with some urging Davido to intervene given his close ties to Ubi.
One fan remarked:
“This is bad for Davido’s camp. Ubi needs to fix this mess before it stains the 30BG reputation.”
